JR's Attic Door
Ease into the relaxing atmosphere of The Attic Door located at 28 West Plant St. in historic downtown Winter Garden. This specialty wine and beer bar is home to a relaxing ambiance that welcomes guests who are seeking a place to unwind after a long day at the office. On any given night, you can find general manager, Henry Bullard, serving appetizers and beverages to regular and new customers alike. The venue is just mellow enough to welcome the most reluctant participants to the nightlife in Winter Garden and specialized enough to meet the needs of any seasoned bar goer.
The Attic Door has a full menu of wines and craft beers as well as coffee and tea. They boast a selection of local beers that are brewed in the surrounding area as well as a selection of over two dozen wines (white, red, blush, and sparkling). If you are in the mood for food, check out the menu of “sofa snacks”. They include their famous spinach and artichoke dip and the absolutely delicious Tuscan bruschetta that is prepared with locally grown ingredients with the simplicity and elegance that is almost too beautiful to eat.
The Attic Door also features a monthly wine delivery service that will deliver a selection of wine to your home that you will not be able to find at your local supermarket. With this service, you pay a monthly fee and a sommelier chooses a red and a white wine that is then delivered to your door the 15th of the month along with two recipes that pair well with the wines.
The staff is very accommodating and is willing to reserve seating if you call ahead. There is almost nothing that they aren’t willing to do to put a smile on their guest’s faces including making menu items to order and accommodating food allergies. According to Bullard, “…we don't try to reinvent the wheel. We keep it simple and delicious.” The small staff at the Attic Door has a motto to treat guests like friends and family. They are welcoming and warm to regulars and newbies. Many of the customers know each other and are comfortable introducing themselves and greeting first timers.
Patrons come to the Attic Door to eat, drink and soak in the vibes that bounce of what could be called a coffee shop turned wine bar. Alicia Salgado, a regular at the Attic Door, describes the wine bar as “fun and relaxing with a welcoming at home feel”. Salgado hangs out at the Attic Door three to four times per week, which is a testament to the service and the quality of the menu items.
The Attic Door, which Bullard calls “the swankiest little wine bar and live music venue around” is open from Tuesday to Sunday with live music every night except for trivia Tuesdays where customers can participate in open trivia for a chance to win a gift card. If you are interested in that warm, cozy feel with exceptionally friendly service, head over to the Attic Door for some great food, excellent drinks, and an amazing atmosphere.
